A work in progress

This is an experimental work in progress which explores bio-luminescence. The concept drawings above start with fishing floats morphing into figurative forms.

These were then 3D modelled in Shapr 3D on an iPad and prototypes 3D printed at small scale using PET filament from recycled water bottles. The small models were then photographed in the studio by Brendan (below) to visualise the overall look and feel of the work.

The next step involves creating the full size sculpture. Fitting an internal stabilising armature, and installing LED lights which will will be controlled by Arduino.

The finished work will be 2.4m high and involve 5 forms, each made of multiple 3D printed sections covered in resin. The work in progress can be seen in the bottom photo.
