FAQs

  • How do I enrol in a course?

It's a quick easy and simple process. Find the course that you would love to do, hit the apply button, and fill in your details. Then we will contact you to finalise dates and times, confirm class numbers, make sure you're in the right course and sort out payment. This stage only takes a few minutes. You can pay through our online gateway, and then that's it you're set up and ready to go.

  • What do I need to bring with me on my first day?

Nothing much: covered in footwear, something for lunch if you don't want to use the nearby cafe, and your sense of adventure. We provide everything else.

  • Do I need to have any experience. I'm worried my skills aren't high enough to do a course?

Don't worry you're in the right place, we will only enrol you into a course if we think it suitable for you. Most of our courses require no prior experience at all and we love it that way. If you wanted to learn how to drive a car, then it would be natural to take driving lessons, and you wouldn't feel that you weren't able to take a lesson simply because you didn't know how to drive yet. Making art, taking photos, and creating awesome designs is exactly the same - there is no expectation that you can do this perfectly at the start, that's exactly what we're here for.

  • Are there any materials and other things that I need before we start?

We provide all the basic materials that you need! For photography courses you will need to supply your own camera or device. It is always better to learn on and understand your own camera, however we may be able to lend you one if needed. If you would like to use your own tools and materials that are familiar to you, or that you have a preference for, we can give you a course material list on your enrolment. If you have an elaborate project you want to work on then you'll need to source the appropriate materials. We can help you find the cheapest and best materials for your work.

  • What if the course isn't for me?

We aim to create the best and most inspiring experience we can for you. If for some reason after your first week, you don't enjoy your time with us you can cancel any short-course and we will refund the balance of all the remaining weeks.

  • What are the class sizes?

5 to 15 students. We found that this is the optimal class size for creativity, peer-to-peer learning, and a dynamic classroom environment. We can cater for larger groups on request, but we usually cap our classes at 15 students.

  • Are you able to put together a course that suits my interests?

Absolutely! We are a dynamic and agile school and love to branch out into new areas especially those that are exciting and cutting edge. We can also tailor a traditional course around any needs you might have, especially for a small group of people all interested in the same technique, process or subject matter. Please contact us and will see what we can set up for you.

  • What is the creative hub?

We have a great studio space and atmosphere for making and creating work. We offer you the chance to be part of this and work on your own projects for a small cost of $30 a month. You can join and leave whenever you want with no strings attached. Places are limited and preferences given to past students but we are always happy to try and accommodate you on your creative pathway. If you would like to be part of this buzzing creative environment then you can apply here

  • How do the creative kids programs work?

Kids between five and 18 are eligible to receive a $100 creative kids voucher each year from the New South Wales government which you can use with us. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills and get a taste of the creative arts. We run programs for all ages, from structured classes to tuition and help with specific assignments in high school years that are designed to fit in with the creative kids voucher scheme.

  • I'd like to work for you, what do I need to do?

Give us a call, or send us an email. At the moment we don't have anything available, but as we grow you never know what opportunities might arise. If you have a workshop you would like to run and need a suitable space, then reach out to us and will see what we can do to accommodate you and your program.

  • Do you offer scholarships?

Yes we do. Our scholarships depend on class availability and individual circumstances, but we love the idea of paying it forward and helping out fellow artists and creative people whenever we can. Positions usually fill up quickly and our categories include: mature students, indigenous students, financial and social hardship, and second chance opportunities. Contact us to find out more information and see if we can help you.

  • I'd like some free artwork to hang in my business or home, do you have any students that would like to do something for me?

No, sorry. This is something we get asked all the time. It's unlikely that you would expect somebody to ask a plumber you don't know to fix a leaky tap for you, or an electrician to install a new light, so we don't ask our students to do anything for free for anybody. Unless of course you are a plumber or an electrician that would like to do some work for them, then perhaps we can talk. We follow the code of practice set out by the National Association of Visual Artists (NAVA). Artists and creatives have an enormous contribution to make to society, it is valuable and worthwhile, and like everybody else they deserve financial reward for it. If you are keen for a paid arrangement or are offering another kind of genuine reward then we are more than happy to put you in touch with an artist, but you'll still have to ask them yourself.
